How to lower cyanuric acid levels in a pool

In the hot summer, people love to go swimming. So keeping the pool clean is crucial for the safety of swimmers. Cyanuric acid is an indispensable part of swimming pool maintenance. In the previous article, we discussed the problem of low CYA levels: What Should You Do if CYA Levels in a Pool Are Low? In this article, we will discuss high levels of cyanuric acid in a pool.

Cyanuric acid (CYA), also known as pool stabilizer, is a white crystalline substance. It's widely used to stabilize the chlorine in the pool, thereby extending the role of the disinfectant. In outdoor pools, chlorine is easily broken down by UV rays from the sun and 90% will be lost within 2 hours. When chlorine can't do its job, the pool will become a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses, which is not good for swimmers' health. Cyanuric acid acts as a sunscreen for chlorine, slowing down the breakdown of chlorine to keep the pool clean and clear for longer.

Although cyanuric acid has a good effect on stabilizing chlorine, high CYA levels (greater than 100 ppm) will cause chlorine lock-up, which leads to potential water quality problems.

For this problem, diluting the pool water is the simplest and most effective way to reduce CYA levels. By partially draining and refilling the pool, it can dilute the concentration of cyanuric acid. Drain some of the water first, and then add fresh water. Depending on the amount of CYA, you may need to repeat this process several times until the CYA level in the pool reaches a reasonable range.

We can see that traditional methods for reducing CYA require a certain amount of time and water consumption, often needing to be repeated several times to achieve the desired result. To address this challenge, our company is about to launch a self-developed product, that is, cyanuric acid remover (ICAR), which can effectively reduce the CYA concentration in the swimming pool, allowing you to easily restore the ideal pool water quality without frequent drainage and water replenishment.

ICAR, the principle of this device is to use UV rays to destroy cyanuric acid, which is the best product to remove cyanuric acid in the water. It's convenient, safe and pollution-free. Also, it can remove urea. Stay tuned!

In addition, regular testing and maintenance is also necessary. Regularly test the pool water quality and adjust the type and dosage of disinfectants in time to ensure that CYA is kept within a reasonable range.

Balancing cyanuric acid levels is important for pool maintenance. By adjusting the CYA levels, you can enjoy a sparkling pool all summer long. We are a professional supplier of pool chemicals, if you need cyanuric acid products, welcome to contact us.
