Aluminium Sulfate
Aluminium Sulfate, also known as Alum, is a highly effective inorganic flocculant widely used in pool clarification. Aluminium Sulfate is a white solid, available in powder, granule and flake forms. This clarifier works by removing suspended particles that cause turbidity in pool water. When Aluminium Sulfate is added to the pool, it flocculates these particles and causes them to settle on the bottom of the pool, making the water clear and sparkling.

How Does Aluminium Sulfate Pool Clarifier Work
Aluminium Sulfate is the most commonly used swimming pool flocculant. The Aluminium Sulfate dissolved in the pool water slowly hydrolyzes to form the positively charged Al(OH)3 colloid, which adsorbs suspended particles (usually negatively charged) in the water, including dirt, oil, and organic debris. The resulting flocs sink to the bottom of the pool, where they can be sucked away by an underwater vacuum cleaner.
Benefits of Aluminium Sulfate Pool Clarifier
- Easy to use.
- Effective removal: Remove suspended particles and maintain a clean, sparkling pool.
- Minimal corrosive impact: Aluminium Sulfate is less corrosive than alternatives such as Ferric Chloride (FeCl3).
- Safe for water quality: If used properly, it will not negatively affect water quality or affect swimmers.
- Does not cause coloring: Unlike iron based coagulants, Aluminium Sulfate does not cause discoloration in pool water.
Directions for Use
Aluminium Sulfate is a traditional alum clarifier product for pools. It removes debris from pool water and restores water to clean and clear.
- Fill a plastic bucket about half full with pool water. Shake the bottle and add Aluminium Sulfate to the bucket at a rate of 300 to 800 g per 10,000 L of pool water, stirring gently to mix thoroughly.
- Pour the alum solution evenly over the water surface and keep the circulation system running for one cycle.
- Add pH Plus to maintain the pH and total alkalinity of the treated pool.
- Leave the pool undisturbed without running the pump for one night, preferably 24 hours for best results.
- Then start the pump and allow any remaining turbidity to collect in the filter, if necessary, use a robotic cleaner to remove sediment from the bottom of the pool.
Important
Ensure that the pool pH is between 7.2 and 7.6 and that the total alkalinity is between 80 and 120 ppm. If necessary, adjust the pH with our pH Minus or pH Plus and the total alkalinity with pH Minus and TA container. Never add Aluminium Sulfate when the pool is in use.
Safety
- Store in a dry, cool, ventilated place away from light.
- Keep away from heat and ignition sources.
- Close container tightly after use.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- DO NOT MIX WITH OTHER PRODUCTS.
