Polyacrylamide emulsion is a highly efficient water treatment polymer with wide-ranging applications across various industries. Its strong flocculation and dewatering properties make it suitable for both municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, as well as applications in papermaking, mining, and oilfields.

(1) Municipal and Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Polyacrylamide emulsion is widely used for treating domestic sewage and wastewater containing high concentrations of organic matter. Typical applications include wastewater from:

  • Ethanol production
  • Papermaking factories
  • MSG (Ajinomoto) manufacturing
  • Sugar processing
  • Animal feed plants
  • Textile dyeing and printing industries

In addition, it is particularly effective in sludge thickening and dewatering from municipal wastewater, meat processing, poultry, and food industries.

(2) Papermaking Industry

In the paper industry, polyacrylamide emulsion functions as:

  • Drying and strengthening agent
  • Retention aid
  • Filtration enhancer

It is also effective for treating white water and has a strong flocculating effect in the deinking process for recycled paper.

(3) Mining and Coal Washing

Used as a flocculant in mining operations and coal washing plants, it helps accelerate the sedimentation of suspended solids and improves water reuse.

(4) Textile, Leather, and Oily Wastewater Treatment

Ideal for treating complex wastewater from dyeing plants, leather processing facilities, and oily waste streams due to its high charge and compatibility with organic pollutants.

(5) Oilfield Chemicals

Polyacrylamide emulsion is used for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) as an oilfield additive, such as:

  • Anti-clay swelling agent
  • Acidic gelatinizer

These applications help improve drilling fluid performance and reservoir stability.

Feature of Polyacrylamide Emulsion

Fast dissolution rate: Polyacrylamide emulsion dissolves faster in water than powder. Cationic PAM and Anionic PAM emulsions usually dissolve within about 10 minutes.

High charge stability: Under different environmental conditions, polyacrylamide emulsion has better charge stability, thereby exerting the flocculation effect of PAM more effectively.

Easy to use: Polyacrylamide emulsion can be used directly or be simply diluted to use. It can be prepared into a usable solution without the need for high-power stirring equipment.

Wide application pH range: Polyacrylamide emulsion has a wide range of pH adaptability, which is suitable for a variety of water qualities, meeting different water treatment requirements.

Extensive application fields: Polyacrylamide emulsion is widely used in sludge dewatering, solid-liquid separation, papermaking aids, mineral processing aids, oilfield reinjection water treatment and many other fields.

How to Use Polyacrylamide Emulsion

Polyacrylamide emulsion is an efficient water treatment flocculant. Before use, it must be properly treated and diluted to achieve the best effect.

  • Dilute before use: It is recommended to dilute to a solution of 0.05%-0.5%.
  • Dissolve completely: The dissolution time is generally 10 to 30 minutes. Make sure the emulsion is fully dissolved before use.
  • Test before dosing: It is recommended to conduct a jar test before use to determine the optimal dosage and effect.
  • Proper storage: Store in an environment with a temperature ranging from 5°C to 30°C, avoiding direct sunlight and freezing. If the emulsion has not been used for a long time, gently stir it evenly before use.
  • Handle with care: Polyacrylamide emulsion is non-toxic but not edible. Avoid contact with skin and eyes when handling. In case of contact, rinse with plenty of water.

FAQs

Q: What is polyacrylamide (PAM)?

A: Polyacrylamide is a water-soluble polymer used as a flocculant, coagulant, thickener, or binder in various industrial processes. It is widely used for wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, papermaking, mining, oil recovery, and more.

Q: What types of polyacrylamide are available?

A: Our polyacrylamide is available in solid and emulsion status, including:

  • Anionic PAM – suitable for mineral processing, industrial wastewater, and sand washing.
  • Cationic PAM – ideal for sludge dewatering and organic wastewater treatment.
  • Nonionic PAM – used in acidic or neutral wastewater, papermaking, and textile industries.
  • Amphoteric PAM – effective for complex water systems with both cationic and anionic substances.

Q: What's the difference between polyacrylamide powder and emulsion?

A: PAM Powder: Long shelf life, cost-effective, and convenient for transportation.
PAM Emulsion: Fast dissolving, easier to dose automatically, but requires careful storage (avoid freezing).

Q: How to choose the right type of polyacrylamide for application?

A: The choice depends on:

  • Water pH and composition
  • Presence of suspended solids or organic matter
  • Type of sludge or wastewater

We recommend conducting a jar test or contacting our technical team for guidance.

Q: How should polyacrylamide be stored and transported?

A: Polyacrylamide powder: Store in dry, cool place away from moisture.
Polyacrylamide emulsion: Store at 5°C–30°C, protect from freezing and direct sunlight.
Shelf life: PAM Powder (2 years), PAM Emulsion (6–12 months)

Q: Is polyacrylamide safe to use?

A: Yes, PAM is non-toxic and safe for industrial use. However:

  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin
  • Wear protective gloves and goggles during handling
  • Wash with water if accidentally exposed

Q: Can polyacrylamide be used with other water treatment chemicals?

A: Yes, PAM can be used alongside PAC (Polyaluminum Chloride), ferric chloride, or lime, but compatibility testing is recommended to ensure optimal performance.

Q: Do you offer customized polyacrylamide products?

A: Yes. We can adjust:
